Last week, I got a haircut and had a really deep conversation with a couple of friends. And yes, I promise those two things are related.

What I recognized was that I’m now styling myself in a new way, a little like my haircut.

What’s next?

It’s almost impossible to know what will happen after my time as a Fulbright grantee ends. But something in me feels like going back to the States and settling into the professional world would be closing the curtain on something I’m not yet ready to say goodbye to.

On February 1st, Danny Kotula stepped into a new country, a new life, and a new world, feverishly excited and fighting off a hint of fear.

He didn’t know what the next stage of his life would hold, and he wasn’t even fully sure how long he’d spend there, but what he thought he knew for sure was that he couldn’t stay beyond three months’ time.

Well, things changed.

Right now, for a variety of reasons and in a variety of ways, I feel like I’m in between one feeling and another. One of the best ways I can grow is to sit and engage with complicated feelings, so that process is what I’ll document today.

It’s been another great couple of weeks in work, social life, and just navigating my new home in general two months in.

That said, the biggest highlights of recent have all been trips I’ve taken.

This past week has been the most effective and comprehensive I’ve had since I arrived. Today, I want to share some solidified details of what I’m doing and what exactly “doing public relations” means.

Having been part of a lot of cool personal things this past weekend with my new friends, I want to highlight the way things have gone for me on a personal level.

It’s taken a while, but it feels like my grant work is finally taking shape.
